Telnet Task B

Whilst Task A of Telnet was interesting, Task B’s blinkenlights was great. I may be only one of a few who think this, but was surprised to find out that this was on my computer.

In considering that Telnet was a method of connecting computers across the Internet, the images that the blinkenlights displays on Telnet are amazing in terms that the typed commands which created the star war images formed part of the bases that worked towards the development of graphic images that now have evolved and are part of everyday internet communications.

Readings about Telnet has shown that there are security concerns in that messages are not encrypted and that information can be accessed readily by others. Therefore its use has become limited with the requirement that information provided and accessed through the Internet needs to be secure.

Telnet

Never having used Telnet I really struggled to work my way through how to view Telnet. After searching through the Microsoft Windows Telent tips and the tips on How to Telnet to a Host, I was able to eventually get to Telnet. The whole process was really quite frustrating to work out (because of my inexperience and not having done this before!) but once I got there, it was fairly basic to follow.

Once in Telnet, searching the Deakin Library database and being able to find the author Bennahum was great! I really felt that I had grasped this first task at least feel that I'm not totally lost and now ready to continue.

You searched for the AUTHOR: bennahum 2 AUTHORS found, with 2 entries; AUTHORS 1-2 are:
1 Bennahum David A 1936 .................................
1 entry 2 Bennahum Ninotchka ....................................

5 top tips for new bloggers

As a first time blogger I am finding my way with writing and giving tips on blogging. Here goes...

Tip No 1

Just start and give it a go! I have had a look at a number of blog sites and was confused with the best approach to take but eventually thought that it is best just to get started and see how it goes.

Tip No 2

Read as much info as you can before you start, after you start and whenever you can. The aim is to understand what blogging is about, what other people experience as easy, difficult or challenging and try to get support when you are face difficulties.

Tip No 3

Do not be afraid to click on anything on the blog page, follow any links and try all the options that are available to you. In this way I can have an opportunity to learn more about blogging and apply different approaches to how I use my blog site.

Tip No 4

Make sure that you contribute regularly and that the comments are relevant to what we are learning.

Tip No 5

Try to make the site as interesting as possible, updating information so that visitors to the site will be enticed to read what you have posted.
